Who I am and What I do

Religion and Theology

I received my PhD in England in 2006, with a thesis on Dorothy L Sayers and the Theology of Work, and am currently a Professor of Theology at Benedictine University, in Lisle, Illinois.

I specialize in issues surrounding the lay vocation. In addition to my University Teaching, I have presented workshops and retreats on Christian parenting and courses on the Song of Songs and Christian Marriage, as well as lecturing on women's changing role in society and on Christian vocation. I helped to set up and am one of the regular presenters at the Lent at the Abbey and Advent at the Abbey series of retreat days at St. Procopius Abbey. I have written a number of articles for Christ is our Hope, the monthly magazine of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet in Illinois. My first book, The Artist and the Trinity: Dorothy L. Sayers' Theology of Work, was published in 2013. My second book, 24/7 Christian: The Secular Vocation of the Laity, which is a practical guide for those living out the lay vocation, was published in 2015, by Liturgical Press My most recent book, St. Benedict for Boomers: Wisdom for the next stage of life, was published, also by Liturgical Press, in 2017.
